Why silk makes a good gift

Many gifts end up in a cupboard after a week. A pillowcase or sleep mask is in use from the first evening, and the difference from cotton is obvious straight away: the fabric is smooth, cool and soft. It is a small luxury people rarely allow themselves, which is exactly why it is nice to receive.

You are not giving an empty promise either. Silk makes nobody younger, but it does rub less against hair and skin than a cotton pillowcase. Our article explains what a silk pillowcase does for skin and hair.

Pillowcase or sleep mask?

  • Silk pillowcase: the gift someone notices most, because they lie on it all night. You do need to know how big the pillow is: 60x70 cm is the standard size in the Netherlands, and we also have 50x70 and 40x80 cm.
  • Silk sleep mask: the safe choice when you do not know the pillow size. The mask comes in one size with an adjustable strap, so it always fits.

Would you still like to give a pillowcase but are unsure about the size? Ask someone in the household, or give the mask now and keep the pillowcase for another occasion.

Which colour should you give?

If you do not know the recipient's bedroom, a calm shade is a safe bet. Off-White, Beige and Champagne go with almost any bedding. If you know someone likes colour, Lotus Pink, Icy Blue or Olive Green feels more personal. The sleep masks come in five colours that you will also find among the pillowcases. That way you can put together your own set of a pillowcase and a mask in the same shade.

What is in the gift box?

Ordering for Sinterklaas or Christmas

Within the Netherlands you pay no shipping costs. To other countries we ship free from €50; below that amount it costs €5.95. Order well before the holidays, because parcel services are busier than usual in December. If the gift turns out not to be to their taste, you can send it back within 30 days of receiving it.

Is a silk pillowcase a good gift?

Yes, as long as you know the size of the pillow. It is something that gets used daily and that few people buy for themselves.

Which size do I choose when I give a pillowcase as a gift?

A bed pillow in the Netherlands is usually 60x70 cm. If you are not sure, give a sleep mask: you do not need to know a size for that.

Can a gift be sent back?

Yes, up to 30 days after it arrives. You register the return in your account or at info@silkora.nl. Opening the box is fine; we would prefer the product itself to come back unused. All the terms are on the shipping and returns page.

Is a silk gift also nice for a man?

Yes. A smooth, cool pillowcase is pleasant for anyone to sleep on. Choose a neutral colour such as Silver Grey, Beige or Chocolate.

What do you give someone who already has a silk pillowcase?

A second pillowcase to alternate with while the first one is in the wash, or a sleep mask in a matching colour.
