Which is cheaper: a silk or satin pillowcase?

In most cases, satin is cheaper, especially when it is polyester satin. Real silk is a natural material and is therefore usually more expensive. Satin is a weaving method, and it can be made from lower cost synthetic yarns.

Cotton satin often sits price wise between polyester satin and real silk. It feels smooth, without the premium price tag of silk. Keep in mind that “satin” on a product label does not automatically mean it is luxurious silk, it may simply be synthetic.

If you have a limited budget but still want comfort, cotton satin is often a good choice. If you want the specific properties of silk, choose a silk pillowcase, which is typically more expensive, especially at higher momme weights.
